The Sigh of the King

According to what bible says, on one occasion David and three of his brave men were together in the Cave of Adullan, on his army, David had many brave men, who made great achievements, but bible always says they were not included with these three.
Once David exclaimed a sigh, he longed, not an order, he said:

1 Chronicles 11:17-19: 17 Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem18 So the Three broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the LORD.
19 "God forbid that I should do this!" he said. "Should I drink the blood of these men who went at the risk of their lives?" Because they risked their lives to bring it back, David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

So those Three who heard the sigh, the longing of the King, they decided to get water in the enemy village.
These Three were near to David, and immediately broke to the enemy field;                                                              just imagine what it would be to try to get into the enemy field to get water? For sure they had to kill people in order to find water for the king; one thing is to enter to the camp, and another thing to come out carrying water. I am quite sure they received cuts and some damage ... then when they came to David to deliver the water; David refuses to drink the water ... but poured it out to honor God.
Later on the Bible tells the stories of some others brave men from David’s army, there was a man who fought with bears, lions, but bible says he was not included among the Three, there was another who fought with 800 Philistines, but neither was he included with these  Three, So how can it be possible that trying to get some water is more glorious than facing the army, wild animals, killing enemies and on? What was it that these men did to make them so specials?
These three men were distinguished because they had the particularity of being close enough to the king to feel his sigh, They were in the king’s presences, so there was no need to give an order because anyone who is in King’s presence, God’s presence, does not need to get an order, they simply have to hear the desire of God's heart, the whisper of God, the long of God, the sight of God, what it is in God’s heart, what is it, that the king is longing for in your life and with your life?
As Christian we have to have the particularity of being in our King’s presence, those three mighty men, were there, they were close enough, so many times in life we are not longer close enough, we believe we can serve our king without a daily presence in our life, so many times we are so accustomed to follow, rather than following passion from hearing God’s voice, God’s whisper.
The second I like about this story is the king David reaction when he gets the water, at the beginning he was longing for water, according to the definition that dictionary give us about longing its says:a persistent and strong desire, usually for somebody or something unattainable or not within immediate reach” so meaning he was desperate for it, like if he was going to die when he is not getting the water, so even with this attitude, when the three mighty men are back with the water, David refuses to drink it even though he was desperate for it, but he poured it out to the Lord, something like “I am dying to drink this Lord, but I am just about to give this away”. So many times when we give to the Lord, we give what we don’t want or what we have enough like not to struggle without it,   but here David is giving something that he was desperate for, something that might have died without, something that did not cost anything but everything. So we need to make sure what we offer to the Lord, what kind of things are we giving to the Lord, what’s our attitude behind that, king David said once I will not take for the Lord what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing. 1 Chronicles 21:24

CONCLUSION
Today the king is still longing, desiring, sighing for his people to get him “water” who will try to change this world? Who will be in his presence the enough time to here his whisper, what He is longing for, we need to do that, that’s going to change our lives, the way we serve.
We need to take the king David attitude of pouring out our lives, dreams, desires, passions to the Lord and let him be the King in our lives.
